National Audit Office Trainee Accountancy

  • A starting salary of £18,000-£23,000 which will increase year-on-year to £30,000-£36,000 in the final year subject to passing exams
  • Formal training courses covering the latest accounting and auditing techniques with the ICAEW
  • Comprehensive support network, including managers who will provide support and a NAO ‘buddy’, a more experienced trainee, who will be on hand to answer any questions during those first few months
  • After qualifying you could be offered a job as an Audit Principle earning £40,000-£50,000 per year

Trainee Technician in a Scientific Laboratory. Starting Salary £16,000 plus part-time study for a Chemistry degree

Are looking to recruit a Trainee Technician next summer to play an active role in a scientific laboratory. This role offers the prospect of full time employment with sponsored higher educational studies.

To be considered you should be expecting at least 112 UCAS points (approximately BBC)

Applicants must be studying either Chemistry, Physics or Biology. The type of work in the technical team at SNF (UK) requires hands on problem solving skills. The company have stressed they are particularly interested in someone’s personal qualities.  Studying and working full time requires real strength of character.

The successful applicant will be offered the opportunity to study for a FdSc/BSc in Chemistry part-time.

Starting salary approximately £16,000

Student Finance 2017 entry

This week Year 13 students should receive a small booklet from your tutor about student finance during your UCAS tutorial. (If you have already completed your UCAS form please pop back to see your tutor) I will also have booklets available for parents next week at the consultation evening.

I have also arranged for a representative from Student Finance England to be in college on Thursday Nov 10 to provide information and answer questions from students who will be progressing to university in 2017. They will be based in the Foyer between the LRC and Students Union from 11.50 until 1.15.

In the new year a member of the Careers team will also deliver a presentation on Student Finance in tutorial. Applications to student finance usually opens in late January or early February.

Ernst and Young Accounting and Financial Services Open Evening

Ernst & Young will be hosting a careers choices evening on 8th November in their Leeds office and 15th November in their Hull office.

The aim of the evening is to give students that are interested in becoming an accountant, insight on what it’s like to work for EY, the programmes that they offer and how they can apply.

The evening will run from approx. 5pm-7.15pm.

They currently offer the following-

–          EY Business Apprenticeship- this is where students join after A Levels/equivalent and train for 5 years to become a Chartered Accountant

–          EY Scholarship- this is where students do an accounting degree at either Bath/Lancaster/Warwick University, have paid placements at EY during the holidays and then join EY as a graduate to train as a Chartered Accountant

–          EY Graduate Programme- where students join us after completing their degree, and then train for 3 years to become a Chartered Accountant

All programmes lead to full qualification as an accountant and are in various service lines within EY (i.e. audit, tax, advisory etc).

EY have removed the need for any minimum UCAS requirements, so their application process is open to anyone.

Insight into Law course

BPP University Law School is running an insight into law on Saturday 3 December at its Whitehall Quay centre.  The day event is aimed at year 12 and 13 student who are thinking of entering a career in law and want to have a taster of what it is like to be a lawyer.  The event is free.

If you are interested please register using the link below. Please ensure that you tell your parents that you have registered for the event. BPP will not be providing lunch so you should bring a packed lunch or money to buy a sandwich at one of the shops local to the Law School.

Official UCAS Deadline

We are fast approaching the official UCAS deadline of Jan 15. All remaining forms must be completed and checked by your tutor and the Careers team before 12 January to guarantee arrival at UCAS by 6.00pm on the 15 Jan. Please remember references have also to be completed by tutors and not all tutors are in work after the 13 Jan. (Please remember we have accepting applications since mid Sept!)
